GOVERNMENT TO TARMAC THE BUJJUKO–KIGOMA ROAD

Government to tarmack the Bujjuko Kigoma road*

nt The government is going to upgrade to tarmack the Bujjuko -Kigoma-Nakabugo road in Wakiso district so as to improve access and connectivity to the city.
The Minister of State for Kampala Capital City and Metropolitan Affairs, Hon Kabuye Kyoffatogabye said that the road will have covered drainage channels, walkways  and street lighting to promote commerce and living conditions for the residents and visitors.
Hon Kyoffatogabye who is also the MP for Nakaseke Central, said that the construction of roads in the greater Kampala would widen employment, trade and access to social services in the region.
While speaking to members of Team Solidarity, an association of responsible residents in Kigoma over the weekend, the Minister revealed that government had contracted M/S ICM  Consultants to undertake detailed engineering designs and also plot for the restoration of the environment and project affected persons.
The Minister said that the 5.0km road would move from Bujjuko, through Kigoma crossing Nakabugo town on the newly constructed Sentema road and connect to Mityana road on Mile 9 from Kampala city.
He appealed to residents to voluntarily offer their land noting that the early acquisition of right of way would enable speedy implementation of the project.
The Chairperson of Team Solidarity, Dr Zenus Byomugisha thanked the members who had been dutifully contributing to the maintenance of the road saying it helped to project the road to the attention of the authorities.
Mr. Stephen Kizito, an employee of the Ministry of Works and Transport and who is also one of the residents, said that the tarmacking of the road would reduce travel time and vehicle operating costs for the road users.
