WILL POLITICAL PARTIES UNITE UGANDANS IN FIGHT AGAINST PANDEMIC

The leader of National Resistance Movement(NRM) party Secretariat in Uganda, Hon Justine Lumumba announced her staff had tested positive for coronavirus.
Hon Lumumba used her social media pages to announce “this morning, two of our staff at the Secretariat tested positive for COVID-19 and have been admitted to the Hospital for proper care. We are working with the technical people and further guidance to be given in due course.I urge everyone to stay alert, healthy & safe”.
The results of these tests were made known today a day after President Yoweri Museveni, the party chairman visited the NRM Electoral office adjacent to the party secretariat.
However when President Museveni appeared at NRM Electoral Commission office all Standard Operating Procedures(SOP) were followed.
Lumumba said her staff have since been taken to hospital while other 17 workers asked to go in self-isolation.

Following an announcement by the Rt. Hon.Secretary General that two of our staff tested positive of Covid-19, an urgent meeting has been convened between the Secretariat Top Management and the National Incident Management Team headed by Dr. Monica Musenero.
After a thorough analysis of the risk and exposure of members of this office, two staff have been taken under isolation and 17 others designated as high risks have been put under institutional quarantine for 14 days.
Starting tomorrow (Thursday), there is going to be strict observance of the SOPs to minimize exposure and risk.
The entire premises will undergo disinfection this Wednesday evening. All staff that didn’t test on Monday will undergo a Covid-19 test tomorrow (Thursday).
The Ministry of Health announced five new confirmed cases bringing the Cumulative confirmed cases of Ugandans to 1,140 and two death.
The virus has spread to at least 175 countries and regions after emerging in Wuhan,China.
The Electoral Commission of Uganda has been engaging political parties ahead of the 2021 elections with a message of keeping voters safe.
Some leader or leaders in the opposition have declared that they will defy SOPs and hold rallies or processions.
Will other political parties invite Ministry of health to test their staff like NRM has done or it will be business as usual.
Under IPOD political parties need to meet soonest over covid-19.
