UGANDA’S ANTHEM CROWNS DOHA 2019 WORLD ATHLETICS CHAMPION
Uganda’S Joshua Cheptegei won gold in 10,000m in a competitive championship as the Ethiopian Yomif Kejelcha threatened to go past him.
Being the last race, Uganda’s Anthem was sung last and listening to that anthem as the Black, Yellow and Red colors being hoisted in Doha was a moment of pride.
The Minister of Education and First Lady Janet Museveni said Joshua Cheptegei, it gives us pride to see our very own training hard, competing and winning at the highest level. You have represented us well. Congratulations on the 10,000m Gold.
Many Ugandans including the President of Uganda congratulated Joshua Cheptegei whose winning legs seem unstoppable.
Joshua Cheptegei’s winning time of 26:48:37 is the second fastest in World Championships history. He becomes Uganda’s first ever 10,000m World Athletics Champion. Thank you for raising the Ugandan flag higher!
