The Speaker of the Parliament of Uganda Rebecca Kadaga is the CPA President Designate (2019/20) for this year’s 64th Commonwealth Parliamentary Conference (CPC) that is being hosted by the Commonwealth Parliamentary Association (CPA) Uganda Branch and the Parliament of Uganda.
The Common Wealth Parliamentary Conference is one of the largest gatherings of Commonwealth Parliamentarians and this year’s event will take place from 22nd to 29th September in Uganda.
The main conference theme is: ‘Adaptation, engagement, and evolution of parliaments in a rapidly changing Commonwealth.’
According to the official CPA website, the flagship event will bring together over 500 parliamentarians, parliamentary staff and decision makers from across the Commonwealth for this unique conference and networking opportunity.
The Conference will be held at Munyonyo Commonwealth Resort and the Speaker is anxious to see the conference come to Uganda.
As of today, a total of 800 delegates have confirmed their attendance of the event.
The number is expected to go higher as the event draws nearer.
Because of the enormity of the event, the Speaker set up different committees to handle specific areas of vital importance in seeing the conference a success.
The organisation is set to cost over Sh16bn that parliament believes is good value for money given the standard of the event.
