Canadian teenager Bianca Andreescu sent shock waves in the tennis world when the 19 year old beat Serena Williams one of the all time greatest players to claim her first Grand Slam title.
At the gripping final in the Flushing Meadows, the teenager easily swept Williams 6-3 7-5.
Andreescu shared her disbelief at the astounding victory over Williams with the crowd.
“This year has been a dream come true,” she said.
Williams who has now lost four successive majors at the Flushing Meadows complimented the teenager who denied her her 24th Major.
“I’m so proud and happy for you, it was incredible tennis out there,” said Serena Williams to Andreescu after their game.
Andreescu is the first Canadian to win a tennis major and the first teenager to win a Grand Slam since Maria Sharapova in 2006.
