Press Statement on the Change of Dates for the Nomination of Candidates for Parliamentary Elections and Commencement of Candidates Campaigns

By Musinguzi Goodluck

The Electoral Commission has rescheduled the nomination of candidates for Parliamentary Elections, including Special Interest Groups (Youths, Persons with Disabilities, Workers, and Older Persons), from 15th – 16th October 2025 to 22nd – 23rd October 2025. The nominations will take place at the office of the respective District/City Returning Officer.

This adjustment is necessitated by Uganda’s role as host of the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) Mid-term Review Conference, an international engagement that will bring together Uganda government officials, legislators, and representatives from NAM member states and international agencies. This Conference is scheduled to take place from 15th and 16th October 2025, and key government institutions will be directly involved in planning, security, and diplomatic coordination.

In light of this, and to facilitate participation, administrative efficiency, and national focus during the international event, the Commission has adjusted the nomination period to the above new dates.
