President Museveni issues directive increasing salaries of lecturers and medical doctors

President Museveni has this afternoon directed the Minstry of Public Service to increase salaries for public university lecturers and medical doctors as a way of retaining their full loyalty and commitment to public service duties.

The president in statement has pledged to pay government scientists and university teachers by moving them to desired levels that suit their qualifications and meet their satisfactory payment structure.

The directive comes pursuant to an agreement that the president had with lecturers in August this year to increase their salaries.

“I have directed the health minister to oversee the closure of all privately-owned pharmacy shops in government health centers,” the president says.

“I am also directing the Minister of Public Service to conclude the issue of pay to government scientists and university teachers by moving them to the desired levels we previously agreed,” Museveni adds on his Twitter page.
