LATE HON REHEMA’S FAMILY DENY SHE DIED OF COVID19,SHE BLAMED POLITICAL FIGHTS BEFORE HER DEATH

The late Hon Rehema Watongola, Member of Parliament for Kamuli Municipality has been buried among protests from family Members denying that she was killed by Covid19.

The Late Hon Rehema protested to friends and authorities against being admitted at Mulago National Referral Hospital saying she had not contracted Covid19. Hajj Badru Watongola husband of the late said the family members were tested and found negative.

She blamed her political opponents for fighting her, nevertheless she deteriorated until health authorities placed her under Intensive Care Unit. After four days, Ministry of Health called the Speaker of Parliament informing her about the Health conditions of the legislator.

Rt Hon Rebecca Kadaga, Speaker of Parliament and Member of Parliament representing , Kamuli district confirmed receiving the phone call after it was announced the legislator had died.

“I received a phone call from Ministry of Health informing me about the condition of Hon Rehema Watongola who had spent four days in the Intensive Care Unit. Its sad that she has passed on”, said Rt Hon Kadaga at the weekend.

Panic has gripped Busoga region especially Kamuli District where the fallen Legislator was hailing from. Authorities and residents of Kamuli District want to get details of her death and if its Covid-19 they want to know whether there is a spike in community infections.

Results of 1st November 2020, 227 contacts and alerts were named and Kamuli distict reported one case: Kampala (126), Buikwe (21), Wakiso (12),Soroti (8), Mityana (7), Mbale (6), Kasese (6), Isingiro (6), Mayuge (6), Jinja (11), Busia (5), Ntungamo (2), Kabarole (2), Kamuli (1), Bundibugyo (1), Masaka (1), Kaberamaido (1), Tororo (1), Moroto (1), Nebbi (1)

In the last two weeks, Kamuli district has reported only one case but the Ministry of Health will give statement.

The number of Covid19 patients in the sub region have increased around Jinja district only while Mayuge and Iganga districts have reported small numbers.

Ministry of Health has continued to ask Ugandans not to abandon the preventive measures put in place to control the spread of the virus.

Hon Hajjat Rehema joins other high profile Ugandans that have succumbed to COVID19 that has claimed 144 Ugandans and 16,000 have tested positive.

Rt Hon Rebecca Kadaga, Speaker of Parliament and Woman MP Kamuli district has suspended campaigns after her Colleague MP representing Kamuli Municipality, Hon Hajjat Rehema Watongola died suddenly.

“Owing to the sudden death of Hon Rehema Tiwuwe Watongola, i have suspended my campaign until further notice. May her soul rest in eternal peace”, said Kadaga.
