By Goodluck Musinguzi
The government of Uganda is calling upon the private sector to be involved in prevention of COVID19(CORONA VIRUS DISEASE) by putting in place the basic mitigating measures at their work places.
Dr Diana Atwiine said this today in Kampala as she rallies the whole country to keep away Corona Virus which caused economic meltdown in countries that are worst hit.
The success in fighting COVID19 lies largely in self awareness and taking extra precautions. Wash hands at all times, DONT SHAKE HANDS. Use alcohol sanitisers at all times, avoid public places if you have flue like symptoms, Dr Diana Atwiine said.
Across the globe most especially China, the economic impact of the Corona virus is still not fully understood by the outside world.
President Yoweri Museveni said corona virus is real, it does not kill as much and fast like Ebola, but spreads at a very terrific rate.
He said Corona virus undermines economies because its disruptive and inconvenient.
“If a country records a case of coronavirus, people will be quarantined, movements limited, businesses, schools, leisure parks closed etc”.
President Museveni continued to say corona virus is an inconvenience to us and jeopardy to our economy, we dont want to head there as a country.
Dr Diana Atwiine , the Permanent Secretary said the public transport must have sanitizers where one is sprayed before boarding. These simple measures will significantly reduce the chances of getting COVID19.
Most hotels in Uganda have responded very well, what remains is to see other private sector groups joining to make sure we save Uganda from economic war that would result if we dont care enough.
Bidco Uganda Limited says in a statement that , we would like to commend Uganda Red Cross and Ministry of Health for the vigilance shown against corona virus pandemic at Rwenzori Trade Fair 2020 in Fortportal at Boma grounds.
