Bank loans fuel family splits

Married couples have been asked to first consult each other and agree
before applying for financial loans to avoid domestic conflicts and family split ups.

The General Manager Nyakayojop People’s SACCO Mrs. Atwine Grace
sounded the call during a press briefing held at the head office of
the Sacco at Nyakayojo division headquarters in Mbarara municipality
on September 12, 2019.

Ms. Atwine explained that some men and women at times secretly apply for loans without the consent of their spouses and when the other party learns of it immediately they telephone loans officers to stop the process which eventually brings chaos in the family.

She clarified that in order to avert the challenge as board members
and the management of Nyakayojo People’s Sacco have started
sensitization programs to educate both men and women on the importance
of acquiring a loan as a team that helps in transparent planning and
putting to good  use of the money when acquired as a loan.

Mrs. Atwine said that with steady growth on the Sacco which has three
financial service centers of Kicwamba, Ruti and main at head office
Nyakayojo at Nyakayojo division headquarters are now looking forward
at opening up rural community financial servicing centers which are
less risky.

She explained that rural population has much higher financial
discipline with assurance of avoiding loan defaults and multiple loans
acquisition with credit of getting opportunity to bring services
closer to public
