Arrested Mitooma District officers to appear in Anti-Corruption Court

Arrested officers from Mitooma district are to appear in the Anti corruption case in Kampala to answer charges of bribery and soliciting for bribes.

Of recent corruption in Mitooma district has been at its peak as On 26th Sept.2019  Amon Byamugisha was arrested by Mitooma police as he started his work in his office on charges of corruption.

Amon Byamugisha , Saverino Beyendeza the District Community Development Officer DCDO, Sarah Kiconco CDO Katenga Sub County were yesterday arrested by the IGG’s office and Onesmus Agaba  were taken to Kampala

Mean while Honest Bamanyisa principal human resource officer and David Betega the former acting CAO Mitooma district are being investigated.

This follows successful investigations which started in 2018. According to an insider of the district, two of the accused are alleged to have bribed their way to office much as they had the correct qualifications while the other two are said to have received bribes.

The IGG’s office has been under spotlight for not prosecuting government corrupt officials and failure to catch big fish in higher government offices and commissions.

Recently the IGG has been dropped and returned to the judicially. Justice Irene Mulyagonja has been appointed a justice of the court of appeal. She succeeded Justice Faith Mwondha who served before her.

  2. If they bribed their way to office immediate vacation is the right thing to do.
