AMURU DISTRICT VACCINATES 55,000 CHILDREN IN THREE DAYS OF MASS POLIO IMMUNIZATION

AMURU: WEDNESDAY, JANUARY 19, 2022

Amuru district has vaccinated 55,766 children during the recently concluded three days Polio mass vaccination exercise.

According to the District Health Officer, Dr Patrick Odong Olwedo, the exercise was successfully completed with a huge turn up by the local communities and positive response from the different stakeholders and the communities.

He further disclosed that the district received a total of 56,900 doses of Polio vaccines and the utilized vaccines surpassed the target of 45,514 children.

George Ocan, the Secretary Health Amuru District Local Government said that they deployed a total of 201 health teams in the various locations to fasten the immunization processes.

 

 

His report shows that Lamogi Sub County (7,708) Amuru Sub County (7,107), Pabo Sub County (5,702) and Guru Sub County (5,288) posted the best immunization performance, leading the district to achieve 22.52% above target.

This performance impressed Geoffrey Osborn Oceng, the Amuru Resident District Commissioner, who commended the health workers for their tireless effort during the exercise.

He challenged the health workers to also strive to achieve similar results in the ongoing immunization for Covid-19
