Uganda’s Independent Electoral Commission nominated 11 Presidential candidates who are supposed to begin their official campaigns today, they have 60 days.
President Yoweri Museveni of NRM is going back to Greater Luweero area where he first launched his resistance against politics of destruction that had threatened the existence of Uganda.
He will meet National Resistance Movement party leaders and there after address the people on radio and television. Standard Operating Procedures set up by Ministry of Health prohibit mass political rallies.
Patrick Amuriat Oboi of FDC first held morning prayers at Namugongo Martyr’s Shrine before heading to Soroti District in Eastern Uganda. He is supposed to launch his manifesto and campaigns.
Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu of NUP is headed for Nebbi district in West Nile where he will visit other districts.
Joseph Kiiza Kabuleeta an Independent candidate is headed for Gulu district to launch his manifesto and campaign.
John Katumba 24 youngest Independent candidate is starting in Luweero like President Museveni. Katumba is a walking Presidential candidate, he is appealing for a car and fuel.
Willy Mayambala an independent candidate is headed for Buikwe district to launch his campaigns too.
Lastly we have Fred Mwesigye independent who is starting his campaigns in the capital city.
President Museveni has always identified with ordinary people in rural Uganda. He has branded himself as champion of rural transformation. His national programs are started in Luweero area.
Other Presidential candidates Henry Tumukunde Kakurugu, Gregg Mugisha Muntu,Nancy Linda Kalembe and Norbert Mao have a free day before they start campaigns.
