40 parents storm Prime Minister’s home

Over 40 Parents and children under the care of Educate the child Uganda a local Non-government organization based in Kabale district have today morning stormed the home of the Prime Minister Rt Hon Dr Ruhakana in Upper Bugongi,protesting what they termed as illegal detention and denial of justice by Kabale High court to their Director Junior Tukwasibwe.

Tukwasibwe was arrested on 2 of April 2019 by Kabale police on allegations that he had defiled minors from his project that he was providing care to. His arrest followed reports from the founder of that organization who has only been known as Greg Stone, an American international claiming that some of the Children under the care of Junior Tukwasibwe were being sexually abused by him.

Junior Tukwasibwe was sent to Ndorwa government prison over 13 counts of rape, aggravated defilement, aggravated trafficking of children and operating a children home without a license among others.
Prosecution led by the Kabale Resident State attorney Gloria Inzikuru on 12th of March 2019 told court that was presided over by his worship John Kavuma Mugaaga that Junior Tumwakire in 2015 while at Gaju cell in Kabale municipality defiled a minor whose name has been concealed.

Now, parents who include Livet Igiraneza, Ovia Tumusiime, Alice Obwarija and Jovanice Aharijira say that they have no several occasions went to court to apply for the bill to their director but court has deliberately refused to grant bail to the Twinamatsiko.

They also say children have resorted to go back to streets because they no longer have school fees because. Parents say that they some have even failed to get food because their director who was providing food for children is now under detention for what they claim to false and illegal detention.

Swifa Nduhukire one of the children who has been under the care of the project say that he has been dismissed from school because of lack of school fees. She says that some children have now lost hopes of going back to school that has forced them to go back to the streets since their director who has been responsible for their school fees is detained.

The group of angry parent was intercepted by the Lower Northern division municipal councilor Ronald Bifabusha when he founded parents locked out the entry gate of the Prime minister but promised them that he will take issue to the prime minister for intervention. He asked parents to remain calm as they try to look in to their issue.

Efforts by our reporter to get a comment from the prime minister were fruitless since he could not pick his known phone numbers.
